Diet and Exercise

The countdown starts now for prom. If you are looking to shed a few pounds, make sure you do it the right way. I've seen too many times, girls coming in and passing out, because they were starving themselves to loose weight for prom. First of all, that is the most unhealthy thing to do to your body. Second, if you try to loose weight like that now, you will not be able to keep it off, and most likely will gain it back (and then some extra).

Don't starve yourself. Start by eating more times a day, but much smaller portions. Breakfast...snack...Lunch...snack...Dinner...snack. Small healthier choices (you know what I mean) If you want to have a cookie, go ahead, just don't eat the whole sleeve. Diet doesn't mean to starve yourself, and eat salad all day. A good diet, is a variety of foods, several times a day, and normal/small portions. Also what helps is to have a full glass of water before each meal/snack. This way you will feel more satisfied and full.

As far as exercise, just do something everyday. Set 30 minutes a day to yourself. You don't need to run a marathon, or join a gym (unless you like that) to exercise. Don't jump into a heavy work out schedule, just start slow. If you're not doing anything now, just start doing something! Go for a walk. Blast the music on in your room and dance! Go ice skating, skiing, biking, swimming (all depending on what's available) with your friends. Grab a hoola hoop and watch tv. So many people have these electronic games, like Wii or Xbox. Purchase exercise or dance games. Have fun and just MOVE!!!!

Finally, a few days before your big day arrives, stay away from salt and extra carbs (breads & pasta). This will help you to "depuff" your body. Also keep drinking plenty of water.

I hope you found this information helpful. Now is the time to start. Take a little time each day to take care of yourself, and eat right. This way you will have a healthy and happy prom you will remember for years!

(Before starting any strenuous exercise, or diets, you may want to consult your physician to see if these exercises/diets are right for you. Your doctor may offer some additional tips on losing weight and/or overall health.)
