We are seeing more and more girls coming into our long island prom store looking to snag up a dress that suits multiple occasions. You fall in love with a dress for prom or sweet 16 and you want to be able to wear it again, not hide it in a closet somewhere! With designers such as Tony Bowls, its easy to pick out a dress for your event that is sure not to look dated or dreary in a year. His lines are always on point for the fashion season and often - ahead of its time!

The fall 2013 season is already giving us glimpses into runway looks of top designers such as  Roberto Cavalli, Michael Kors and Dolce & Gabbana with grand displays of shimmering gold metallics.

 Dolce & Gabbana’s ready to wear runway show had a huge finale with their models walking out sporting gold encrusted glitzy bodysuits that screamed Vegas, Baby!

   To the right style TS21212 boasts a structured sweet heart bodice covered in multi colored crystals that shine in the light beautifully. The skirt is comprised of a semi sheer light weight tulle fabric treated with a curled hemline. Its ruffles show a slight hint of the abstract animal print underskirt for that added flare of personality!

  To the left, TS21202 has a similar style with layers of light & flowing tulle decorated with laser cut mirror embellishments. This style, though also sweet heart, tends to be a bit more mature in taste with it's less poofy skirt and sophisticated color palette.

For a girl looking to add a little height a  Metallic speckled high heel pump is always a favorite!They pair off wonderfully with a more simple dress as an easy way to add personality. For the Fall 2012 season designer  Cameron Blake  has put together a line full of multi-tonal taffeta and semi-sheer draped chiffon to flatter all sizes & shapes! Interesting takes on classic shapes ensures the  mother of the bride  looks current and fresh without looking out-of-place! With a range of cuts from tea length to mermaid flare, every body shape can find the right design to make their natural beauty shine!  Pear shaped, apple, full & curvy or lean and androgynous you can dress to impress on your child's big day!

 

Showing off a bit of the décolleté area is a great way to make your full figure work to flatter you!

For a Full and curvy  frame you may want to avoid flimsy thin fabrics that cling tightly and in the wrong areas. This line has several very beautifully iridescent colored taffeta gowns such as Cameron Blake 212691  or 212673 which have a nice structure to it that will keep your curves in check!

 The empire waist line is reigning supreme on the popularity charts this season! The collection predominantly showcases a princess & natural waistline with occasional peppering of the asymmetric waistline. Overall, we are seeing the dropped waist being phased out of style all together!

Allure 1222S Bridesmaid Dress has a striking 1920s vintage glamour about it that we here at Magic Moments are in love with! The strapless sweet heart bust gives enough contour to be pretty but doesn't scoop so much as to be indecent for the venue.

Another large focal point for this bridesmaid collection was offering options for the neck and hem lines.A single shoulder strap ( often decorated in bits of flounce or rosette ) is a favored style this time around with the classic sweet heart bust falling closely behind. That is not to say that strapless and scoop necks arent doing very well for themselves! They are still very popular styles above that of the halter neck that we are only now seeing hints of.

Nearly half the collection falls in a tea or pencil length skirt but as expected from Allure - they bend over backwards to offer these styles in a floor length. A perfect example would be Allure 1271 being offered in a longer length : Here. The same is true for many of the longer dresses being made in shorter lengths.

Ivonne D. : Red Carpet, Mother of the Bride & the most fashionable of Wedding Guests.

Kate's stunning appearance during the Royal Wedding still has been making waves in the fashion community. We are seeing elements of her gown reflecting in wedding attire from the bride's gowns to Mother of the Bride & the rest of her party! Is it any surprise that top mother of the bride designer such as Mon Cheri's Ivonne D. is taking style ques from Kate's fabulous gown?

The deep wine dress, style 212D79 utilizes a delicate semi-sheer lace across the arms in a three-quarter  fashion. The raw edges of this floral lace cuts into the neck line to create the illusion of a long neck without being overly flashy about the amount of skin shown. 212D72 uses it's lace to create a runway worthy geometric illusion that is perfectly suited for a red carpet event or evening affair out!

 Another element we are noticing in Ivonne D's newest releases is it's love for the hourglass silhouette! Many of the designs feature a flared mermaid like skirt that makes the waistline seem so tiny by comparison! This shape is timeless for a reason! And that reason being that its so wonderfully flattering is no big secret!
